What is Sanskara?
I grew up in Andhra Pradesh, India. We speak Telugu. There the word sanskara is used to mean manners. We say, for instance, some one does not have good sanskaras to mean bad manners or character.
I used the word sanskara with a refined meaning, which is close to the above vernacular meaning.
Sanskara in my terminology refers to memories, impressions, cognitive tendencies, habits, qualities, talents, personality traits, etc.

Unbox the old sanskaras
No doubt there are many positive qualities of the self such as as patience, introvert, deep in thinking, perseverance, etc.
None the less, I do have many weaknesses too. I do have bad habits. I have problems with my communication skills. I dont feel comfortable with myself at times. I have negative tendencies and laziness. I have lust, anger, attachments which can distort the truth. I do have fears and laziness because of which I dont take initiatives.
All those negative aspects of the self make it heavier.
How do I overcome these negative aspects and grow further?
The answer is simple. It is switch in my awareness from body consciousness to soul consciousness. No reasoning or analysis is needed to change to soul consciousness.
Switching of my consciousness to soul consciousness is based on Rajayoga meditation. Here is the technique.
Just visualize yourself to be a tiny point. A tiny point of the size of a small star that you can see in the sky. Just imagine yourself to be a tiny point, billions of miles away from the earth, and standing next to that physical tiny star. Stay in that awareness of you being a tiny star. Use your visualization. Emerge that you are such a tiny point of energy. Emerge also the awareness that the tiny point is eternal. Emerge that awareness that the tiny point is emanating energy in vibrations. Emanating vibrations of peace. Emanating vibrations of love. Emanating vibrations of joy. I am that tiny point. Independent. I am infinitesimal. I am loveful. I am eternal.
I stay in the awareness of being a tiny point. My intense concentration is to be focused in that awareness. As the awareness deepens, I experience a new self. I experience new frontiers.
As I keep practicing this awareness, I will have more appreciation for the new awareness of the self as a tiny point. When such awareness grows stronger and stronger, my confidence grows.
As I stand longer in the awareness, I become aware of the old sanskaras of self awareness. I become aware of that attachment with the old self rooted in sankskaras of body consciousness. I break from the attachment with these sanskaras. I am free. I am free to recreate the self. I am free to reimagine the self in different form. In different new sanskaras. The old sense of the the self dies. I am new one. I am free and light.

Slip into Eternity to free yourself from depression
I do get into hopeless situations. Whatever I do, it is a failure. There is no reason to hold onto a hope that I will do better. I dont want to hope that I will be able to do better. I dont want to try anything. I am just a failure.
I am driven to a corner of despair.
Nothing makes me hopeful. Things look to be depressing.
You ask, why such failures to me only?
You slip into that mood. There is a pain because I am attached to these situations.
When such a depression mood takes over, I resign myself and get into my own space where I am not holding onto any hopes.
But I go on a different trip.
I see myself as a tiny point and going around. I view time to be cyclic. In the cyclic time, I imagine circling around it. I see myself going through it once. I see the same things repeating. I see the cycle repeating, 10 times. I go thru the situtation 10 times. I see the cycle repeating 1000 times. I see myself going thru the pain 1000 times.
I keep imagining the cycle repeating billion times. I also see myself going thru the situations billion times.
I see the cycle repeating on and on. I am a little point, travelling around the cycle of time. While circling on and on, I reach a stage, where I see what is happening is a routine. Its nothing new. Its is what it is. I feel detached. I feel separate from it. I am free. I feel the new liberation from the pain of association with those situations.

Gradualism and Siberian Mammoths
Hi Raghu,
Gradualism is the theory that is assumed in that link that you posted.
Do you know, in some cases of Siberian fossils of mammoths, fresh grass was found in their bellies? Does it not mean these mammoths were suddenly forced to die and frozen by an abrupt event? Ice continents exist even now too. So the theory of ice age broken 10000 years ago does not hold much. As per ice age theory, there was ice all around the earth.

The World Drama Cycle discussion
I don’t claim all answers to God Shiva’s teaching. The world cycle is a revealed knowledge. It is not my theory.
The only thing we can do for exploration of its veracity is to be aware of the following constraints:
You can’t see accurately until you abandon your worldview.
We see what we believe. Rarely do we see the world as it is.
My exploration has been first accepting the revealed knowledge and see where the problems are. I did not try to extend my existing beliefs or knowledge to a new paradigm of beliefs.
I am certainly opening a pandora box of research questions. So one has to begin your research with an open mind without the clutter of the currently educated beliefs.
People quote about Harappan culture, Egyptian culture, etc. About the timings of those civilisations, we need to understand the technique employed in assigning the time for those civilisations. Our problem is there is no lack of continuous and conscious record of history.
One example, I can quote about is Vedic culture. The vedas were recorded in writing for the first time during the British time. Before that these had been transmitted orally from generation to generation. Our Indian claims is: 3000BC - 10000BC, depending on the scholar. Western claim: 1200BC. Max Mueller assigned the date by some guess work. Similarly all other dates that were assigned in the last 100-150 years were some guess work.
According to social anthropologist, Joseph Campbell, all religious or spiritual practices of the world go back to 800BC. This is what gave me the credence to the theory of the world cycle of God Shiva.
One does not have to trust Joseph Campbell fully. So you have to see his method of assigning the dates to religious practices.
The science has been preaching us uniformitarianism as though no major cataclysmic events took place ever since the earth formed. Velikowsky introduced the idea of catastrophism, a theory that the Earth has been affected in the past by sudden, short-lived, violent events, possibly worldwide in scope. The entire establishment of science saw that this idea does not get into lime light.
If there are no calamities how do the fossils form. Fossils of animals in rocks. They teach you that, it gradually formed. Its common sense that dead body disintegrates into pieces in a month or two. It applies to both land and sea animals.
I mentioned about catastrophism because people also quote about tectonic plates moving at a speed of cms. This does not mean that these did not move very fast during cataclysmic events.
God Shiva’s teaching does not give the complete account of human migrations. As per His teaching, for the first half of the cycle, India was home of humanity. The exact date for the last destruction were also not known.
Western attempt to write comprehensive history of the world is very recent, and goes back to last 100-150 years.

David Chalmers on Consciousness
That extra-ingredient is an infinitismal point of energy, which is responsible for consciousness phenomenon. This is a reality that is ignored by scientific pursuit.
There has been a major belief in Scientific community that the consciousness is a derivative of biological/neurological process. So they keep investigating these processes. But they don't address as David pointed out why consciousness.
I have been following David from 1995. But from 1990, I was fascinated by the idea of consciousness as a non materialistic phenomenon due to an infinitismal point of energy. When consciousness is manifested, we experience mind, intellect, and memories, talents, etc.
This might be unthinkable for all those who believe in E = mc**2. This seems to be one major error, courtesy Einstein.
Why is that all energy is to do with matter? That is big assumption.
I liked David addressing the issue of consciousness as an exra ingredient.
